Frequently Asked Questions

01

How is confidentiality maintained during private counselling sessions?

In private counselling sessions, keeping things confidential is a big deal. Therapists follow strict rules and laws to make sure your information stays private. They keep secure records, use private ways to communicate, and only share info with authorized people. The discussions about your case also keep your identity a secret. During therapy, your privacy is a priority, creating a safe and trusting space. Therapists stay up to date on rules and standards to make sure they're doing everything to keep your info private and secure.

02

How long is each counselling session, and how often should I schedule appointments?

The duration of counselling sessions can vary depending on the therapist and the type of therapy being provided. In general, counselling sessions typically last around an hour. However, some therapists may have longer sessions based on the client's needs and the therapeutic approach used.

The frequency of counselling appointments also varies and is often determined collaboratively between the therapist and the client. In the beginning, sessions might be scheduled more frequently, such as weekly, to establish a therapeutic relationship and address immediate concerns. As progress is made, the frequency may decrease to bi-weekly or even monthly.

Ultimately, the recommended session duration and frequency depend on the specific goals of therapy, the nature of the issues being addressed, and the preferences of both the client and the therapist. It's essential to discuss these factors with your therapist to create a plan that works best for you.

04

What is your policy regarding cancellations, and are there fees for missed appointment?

  • Clients are required to provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice for any cancellation or rescheduling of their sessions. To accommodate the therapists time and schedules, cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice or a session that is not attended will result in a fee equivalent to the full cost of the scheduled session. Exceptions to this policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis in the event of unforeseen emergencies or extenuating circumstances. Clients must contact us directly as soon as possible to discuss such situations.

05

How will we track progress, and what are the expected outcomes of counselling sessions?

Therapists employ various methods to track progress and assess the outcomes of counseling sessions. One key approach involves collaboratively setting measurable goals with clients, providing clear benchmarks for progress. Regular feedback and open communication between the therapist and client play a crucial role, allowing both parties to discuss experiences and observations. For clients dealing with specific symptoms, therapists monitor changes in symptom frequency or intensity as indicators of improvement. Additionally, therapists assess the acquisition and application of coping strategies, behavioral changes, enhanced self-awareness, and improvements in overall quality of life. Ultimately, the therapeutic process aims to empower clients, fostering self-determination and positive transformations in various aspects of their lives.

07

Will there be homework or tasks assigned between sessions to support the therapeutic process?

The inclusion of tasks or assignments between sessions in a supportive setting varies depending on the overall therapeutic approach. Some methods emphasize the significance of the therapeutic conversation itself, with the primary focus on exploring personal thoughts and emotions within the confines of the session. In such cases, external assignments or tasks for individuals to complete outside of sessions might be less common.

Alternatively, certain approaches advocate for a more interactive dynamic between sessions, encouraging individuals to apply and practice what they've discussed in real life situations. This could involve specific activities or reflections designed to help integrate newfound insights and coping strategies into daily experiences. The decision to include or exclude these tasks typically depends on the therapy employed and the mutual agreement between the individual and the supporter regarding the most beneficial way to facilitate personal growth and progress.

Is there an initial consultation, and what can I expect during that first session?

In your first online counselling session, the process typically begins with some initial paperwork. You may be asked to provide basic information about yourself and your current situation. Following that, the counselor will create a safe space for you to discuss the reasons for seeking counselling and explore your emotions and concerns.

During the session, the counselor may ask questions to gain a better understanding of your background, experiences, and goals. It's an opportunity for you to share what's on your mind and express your feelings. The counselor will likely discuss the counselling process, including confidentiality and the guidelines for online sessions.

Together with the counselor, you'll work towards establishing therapeutic goals and identifying potential areas for growth and improvement. This initial session aims to build a foundation for a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process or share any specific preferences you have for online counselling. The ultimate goal is to create a positive and collaborative environment to support your mental and emotional well being.
